Lodging
We do not have any rooms reserved for the reunion, but there is
info below on places that had space when we called. Check back for updates.
If you know of anywhere with space, please email
scahs88@digitalics.com.
We unknowingly picked one of the busiest weekends in Happy Valley to
hold our reunion (sorry!). You may have to compromise on hotel selection, price,
and/or location. There is a huge basketball tournament July 5-8 for which
the Visitors Bureau has almost every hotel room reserved. You will likely have
better luck with small B&Bs or locally owned hotels.
NOTE: The rooms reserved for the basketball tournament that haven't been booked
will be released on June 3rd. We hope more rooms will come available then.
Most hotels have pretty flexible cancellation policies, so you might
be able to change locations later, but please be sure what you're committing
to when you reserve your rooms.
We also
appreciate any of you who live locally who are willing to open
up your homes to visiting classmates for the night/weekend.
- St Joseph Institute
- Last minute special: Stay 2 nights and get the third night free. Two or more
people $335.00. Visit their website for additional information on this package or call and
ask to speak to Sonya Smeal (anyone there could probably help you out).
- This is a resort-spa-retreat in Port Matilda. They say it is
about 20 minutes to the North end of State College (ie: Champs) over
a new highway. This place looks really nice!
- www.stjosephinstitute.com, 814-692-4954
- Total cost for 2 nights including breakfast (taxes are not included):
Standard room with private bath: $340 (some standard rooms can be converted to triples with 3 twin beds)
Standard room with shared bath $300
Deluxe room: $390
1 bedroom suite: $490
2 bedroom suite: $650
- If there is sufficient interest, they will arrange a bus to & from the reunion.
Price is approximately $5-10, depending on how many go.
- 2 night minimum on weekends. They currently had 22 rooms available
when I called.
- Michael Campbell is the contact there, and he mentioned that there
is availability in nearby B&Bs, too. You might ask if this doesn't
suit your needs/budget.
- Breakfast is complementary and additional meals can be added.
A variety of spa packages could also be presented for consideration.
General use of the facility recreation areas, bonfire pit, walking trails,
children’s playground, pools, etc. is included in the room cost.
- Northland Motel
- 1521 Martin Street, State College, PA 16803 (814-237-1400)
- 16 rooms - all available
- $99/night + tax (specially priced for the basketball tournament)
- Cancellation policy is 3 weeks ahead of check-in (verify for yourselves)
- According to Google, this is less than 1/2 mile from Champs.
- Note: I could not find a website, photos, or ratings/reviews online. It is
attached to a bowling alley and a bar.
- The Stevens Motel
- 1275 N Atherton St, State College, PA 16803-2984 (814-238-2438)
- Rooms are $75/night, plus tax. They have 18 rooms available, however, they
are requiring a 4 night stay between July 5th and 8th. (They want to rent to
people coming for the basketball tournament.) This works for anyone staying
for the Arts Fest, I suppose.
- According to Google, this is 0.6 miles from Champs.
- Aikens Cabins
- 400 Bear Meadows Road, Boalsburg, PA (814-466-9299)
- 4 cabins, each with 2 bedrooms and a kitchen.
- Carnegie House
- In Toftrees, corner of Cricklewood and Toftrees Blvd. (814-234-2424)
- 20 rooms available for both nights that weekend
- $225/night + tax
- Happy Valley Motor Inn
- 814-234-1111
- 2 rooms remaining for both nights
- $78/night
- Other Resources - You might have better luck at
B&Bs and locally owned places. Most of the big places tell us they're booked.
